In 2023 or 2024 I was introduced to a new genre of photography know as ICM ( Intentional Camera Movement). I laughed at first and thought, Camera movement..I thought that was something I was suppose to avoid that while clicking my shot? The key word here is INTENTIONAL movement. Stephanie Johnson is a photographer who’s work caught my eye as to what ICM is all about and what intentional movement can create. I watched a few workshops with her and picked up a few techniques I tried out this past year. Most of the images were “Blah…” but a few stood out and made me say “Wow, that’s kinda cool!” So a played around, and kept shooting, that’s how you learn and grow as a photographer. That’s what’s important to me any, learning and growing as a person and artist.
Now, I’m ready to share a few of my images that spoke to me this year. The last one reminds me of something painterly like a Monet. This softer, painterly rendition of “Abstract” is more appealing to my eye than say something of a Picasso with it’s sharp edges.
I’m thinking about entering one of these images in a local art competition for Abstract images. I could use a second opinion on which one stands out from the others. Please comment on what image attracts your eye or speaks to you, if any of them does. What are your thoughts on ICM photography? Have you explored this genre before? Please share if you like what you see here. Thanks so much for stopping by and spending some time with me and my images. ~ Andria
